Silent Friendship Trip to St Monans

Last weekend, my besfriend of around 14 years (I can't believe how old we are now, we met in high school) and I set off for a weekend of lots of silent friendship time moments and a very casual relaxed energy to the lovely St Monans. The focus of this trip was casual energy only, something we have both come to very much appreciate in our adult years.

We arrived on Friday to The Terrace and I fell deeply in love with the design of it and want to go back to stay again as soon as I can. After taking a little time to settle we went for a lovely walk to the Salt Mill, saw the amazing outdoor pool and enjoyed the sound of the sea at the pier. This night we decided to have a chinese which turned out to be a pretty big disaster so I won't be going any further on that; and we ended our night watching a new corny Netflix orginal and chatting.

Saturday we headed to the Giddy Gannet for breakfast (well I say breakfast but we accidentally woke up at 12:30) and I discovered that their pork and apple sausage rolls might be my new personality trait. We then headed to see St Fillian's Cave which was not for me, I have never been one for dark, creepy, small places. Enjoyed a delicious white hot chocolate from The Cocoa Tree Shop (more on that on TikTok) and ate an ice cream from Nicholson Sweets and Ice Cream Shop whilst watching the world go by. We ended that day with more tv (I told you it was casual energy only) which led to a late dinner as I discovered The Wheel game show (what a concept!). Naturally, we had to have the infamous Anstruther chippy for dinner and it did not disappoint, however my tartare sauce did spill everywhere and I ordered pickled mussels on the side which definitely should just not be a thing. More tv was consuming and this night we had some far too intense deep chats for 2am (very much sleepover energy).

We ended our trip on Sunday by heading back to the Giddy Gannet (naturally), drove to Clayton Caravan Park to play mini-golf (a highly underrated game) and enjoyed a lunch at Guardbridge Inn. So this post hopefully gives you some ideas of things to do in St Monans and surrounding areas and also reminds you of the joy of casual trips and silent friendship time; because nothing heals the soul quite like them.
